About
A password manager you don’t have to take on trust.
Passwords are too important to rent from a company that holds everyone’s vault in one place. So 2Secret is free, open source and yours to run.
Why 2Secret exists
Three beliefs.
Security should be checkable. When the code is open, anyone can verify how your data is protected, instead of trusting a marketing page.
Your vault shouldn’t sit in someone else’s target. A service that stores millions of vaults is an attractive target. 2Secret doesn’t host vaults: yours stays on your device or on a server you control.
A password manager shouldn’t cost a subscription. Everything is free. The only exception is the iOS app in the App Store, which has a small one-time price to cover Apple’s developer account and hosting. It’s open source too, and you can build it yourself.
How it’s built
One Rust codebase, every platform.
-
Apps
macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, iOS and iPadOS, Android, and the web vault.
-
Browser extension
For Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox. Fills only when you click, with strict site matching, and keeps passkeys in your vault.
-
CLI and server
A command-line tool and a self-hostable sync server, from the same code.

Support 2Secret
Help cover the costs.
2Secret has no subscription and no paid features. Making it does cost money: Apple’s developer account (99 USD a year, needed to publish the iOS app), the domain and the hosting of this website. A donation helps cover those costs. It is entirely voluntary and doesn’t unlock anything.
You donate on PayPal’s own website. This site loads nothing from PayPal and sets no cookies.
Licence
MIT or Apache 2.0: use it, study it, change it, share it.
2Secret is dual-licensed under the MIT licence and the Apache License 2.0, at your option. Both let anyone use, modify and distribute it, including commercially, as long as the licence and copyright notices are kept.
